Roma Cassia
The garden is centered around a family home in the hills just outside Rome. The house is the result of the land reform which led to the construction of houses for agricultural workers in the early 20th century.
When we completely redesigned the garden, we created a link between the old and the new garden. The Irises that had been in the garden for decades where saved by removing the rhizomes, which were stored and replanted in various locations.
The existing pool has been reshaped by introducing a very shallow section of the pool "pieds dans l'eau" and introducing an overflow stone edge.
The pool house, is a tribute to Barragan as are all other minor out buildings, although the use of color is limited to red, the colour the existing agricultural buidings.
